sing as loud as you do

abby's senior show

This weekend was just nuts. Thursday I drove down to Bourbonnais for Abby's art show. It was so good and fun to be at an art show again. It is the thing I really miss a lot from Olivet. I saw lots of old classmates and professors and not to mention, Abby's awesome art of life.

mees' wedding shower

Saturday was Melissa's amazing wedding shower. It was seriously so pretty. Jen and Jess did amazingly. I ate way too much candy and everyone got chocolate all over everything.

bonfield at 7 am

I woke up early this morning in Bonfield and went outside to take some photos of the country. The light was fantastic but I almost got locked out of the house. I was lucky Iris spotted me at the end of the porch before locking the door.

Tomorrow I start a new job. I'm nervous but it'll be a good experience.

woops

Snap Dragons

I know it's been a few days. It's just I've decided that this is going to be a photo blog and if I don't have any photos I haven't got anything to post. Over the weekend my parents and I went to Jamaica Gardens to look for plants. They didn't have huge selection of anything yet but I still love walking around a nursery.

Sun Tea

Making sun tea today. It's a good day for it. And I've been meaning to do so for a few weeks. I'm a little worried about the spigot on that jar though, it seems a bit leaky. Ah well. We'll see when I bring it in.

lovely lovely day

sunny outside

Today was GORGEOUS and completely atypical of Illinois weather so I thought it would be a good idea to start my new book Disgrace by JM Coetzee that Jenny, Ashley and I are reading together. Unfortunately it was SO sunny that I only got through the first chapter before I was way too hot to stay out there anymore. Chewie was about ready to go in too. I also spent a good amount of time drawing and goofing around on the Intuos. I really want to get better at drawing so I'm gonna challange myself to draw at least one thing that isn't just a doodle every day.

extreme excitement

Photobucket

Haha yes, I got a Wacom tablet and after hours of messing around with it, this is how I've chosen to show the world. I got it mainly to work on photo editing, especially now that I'm trying to put together a re-touching portfolio. But it's also fun to just draw with. One thing I was really excited to do with it is make journal comics but then it dawned on me that not only am I not good at drawing, but I have no reference point to start with. We'll see how it goes. Since I'll be drawing more it may start to come more naturally again.

covered in orange irises

possible couch fabric?

I bought a couch from an antique shop last year that is really comfy and in great condition. Its only fault is that it's covered in giant orange irises. It served it's purpose in my apartment, but now I'm at the point where I want to re-upholster it. I haven't been able to find a material I liked enough, until recently (hence the fabric swatches). So now I have a good idea of what I want. I just have to learn upholstery meow.

alpha and omega

new cups

I found these amazing cute tea cups and saucers at Goodwill today. I've been looking for a great set for a while now and absolutely could not pass these up. They had 8 saucers but only 6 cups. The bottoms say Double Phoenix NKT Nikko Japan. Perhaps my new hobby will be tracking down my pattern? I haven't been able to find any so far or anything about the manufacturer.

amazingly cute tea set

I also picked up CS Lewis' The Problem of Pain. It'll be nice to read some apologetics. It's been a while for me.
