today

Icicles on the front porch today. the longest one almost comes down to my thigh.

My project for the day. I used this tutorial that I found on WhipUp. They are originally birthday cards, but I thought they could also make good "thank you" and "thinking of you" cards. And maybe with just some pink, red and white, they could make good Valentine's Day cards. I don't know if I'm ambitious enough. Maybe next year.

now i've done it...

Well, I finally got around to it. I finally put stuff up on my Etsy site. I took about 2 hours and got a solid base of stuff on there so now I can just put up things a little at a time and not feel so overwhelmed anymore. It was really fun listing stuff, but photographing everything was so my favorite part. Is that any surprise?

Anyhow, feel free to head on over there. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

up-to-date

pompom flowers

Today I was able to get some things done I've been meaning to do for a while. This first one is a project I found here. They were pretty simple and fun to make, plus they're so dang cute!

trifari pendant

I bought this pendant at an estate sale a few weeks ago and finally got around to making a cord for it. I made an actual clasp, too, using some cheap jewelry making supplies from Hobby Lobby. I think my new obsession will be looking for things of this nature at garage sales and turning them into something wearable.

new poster!

Lastly, I finally got something up on my walls. I found this amazing poster at Hobby Lobby for half off. It is so me that I couldn't say no! It was pretty much made for me.

trip to the park

uh

On Saturday my housemates and I had a bunch of people over. We started watching Fight Club but then decided it would be a better idea to take an intermission for a walk to the park before it got dark out.

chillin

It got dark fast so we didn't stay long. ^_^

I know I mentioned a project a while ago and I hoped to have launched it by now but I've been so tired from work that i just haven't had time. Baby-steps I guess. Anyhow, what it is, is an Etsy shop through which I sell vintage items. One of my big passions in life is antique and thrift shopping but I never get to buy any of the cool stuff I find. Now I can share my finds with other people and still have the satisfaction of finding and buying something awesome. The store-front has been created, but I have yet to list any items. Keep checking back, though, because I feel I'm getting closer and closer to actually listing things.

alligator skin

walk 1

Just something I played with in photoshop. It's been a while since I've done that.

I am going to try undertaking a new project. I'm not sure how it will work out so I'm not going to reveal it quite yet but I am pretty excited. I hope it takes off and garners some income for me. But it takes money to make money so hopefully I make smart decisions.

I haven't been taking as many photos of my social events as I wish I was so I am going to make a better effort to do that from now on. My main problem is not wanting to lug my giant SLR with me all the time. I used to. just fell out of it I guess.

come summer, my brother

mail time

Yesterday was my birthday and I was pretty much running around all day and had little time to just relax. So today I decided to do some relaxing and after a little grocery shopping I finally got around to getting some mail into order. One is a package for my friend in Japan, another is a Halloween card to my grandparents, and the other three are postcards for people on PostCrossing. It's been a while since I've sent/received any postcards so I figured now is as good a time as ever to start back up!

cupcake

cupcake purse

A little something I've been working on. I bought the pattern from Etsy, my most favorite online consignment shop. My first attempt ended up looking like a weird pink acorn but I figured out what I needed to do and the second one worked much better. I plan on making one for pretty much everyone I know ♥.

it was all yellow

old snow white poster

Ok, I don't know what the deal with color-themed posts is but I am kind of enjoying it.
This is something I did a while ago and mentioned in my private blog. I wanted to get a better photo of it and post it here...so I did! I had an old Snow White poster that I wanted to keep but didn't particularly want the giant, somewhat stained and discolored thing up on my wall. So instead I got 4 cheapy clip frames from Hobby Lobby and cut out 4 abstract vignettes from the poster. It's a nice solution for something that I wanted to keep but was too gargantuan to have in its original state.

leetleflags

And what, you ask, do these leetle yellow flags indicate? Why, it marks the officious beginning of our street construction, that's what! For everyone who has ever been to my house, you will understand and appreciate just how exciting this event is. Our road is down to the DIRT in some spots and is impossible to drive down without something falling off of your car. After YEARS of being told our neighborhood was next, the time has finally arrived. OK, I know it's not something I've done but bear with me, this is exciting stuff.

not really a huge fan of the butterflies, but i can forgive it this time

wacom case

After I had my Intuos for a couple weeks I realized that having it sit in the open on my desk would greatly encourage dust and other yuckies to form on top of it or in the cracks. I knew I could buy a case for $20 but what fun is that?

wacom case 2

I am definitely not a seamstress by any means and my measuring was a bit off. But I used some buttons that were lying around and made loops to fasten it down when I'm not using the tablet. Other than it being too short, I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out.

wacom case 3

The bottom has a cardboard base which is lined with batting as well as the top flap. My original plan involved a zipper, handles, and having the buttons on the inside to secure it open, but plans change and this works just fine for me.

covered in orange irises

possible couch fabric?

I bought a couch from an antique shop last year that is really comfy and in great condition. Its only fault is that it's covered in giant orange irises. It served it's purpose in my apartment, but now I'm at the point where I want to re-upholster it. I haven't been able to find a material I liked enough, until recently (hence the fabric swatches). So now I have a good idea of what I want. I just have to learn upholstery meow.
